Today, Deputy Secretary Burns met with Pakistani Ambassador to the United States Jalil Jilani.

Deputy Secretary Burns welcomed Mr. Jilani in his new role as Ambassador and noted that we look forward to continuing our productive working relationship. As Foreign Secretary from 2012 to 2013, Ambassador Jilani worked closely with the United States during a critical time in our bilateral relationship.

Deputy Secretary Burns and Ambassador Jilani reaffirmed our commitment to cooperate on a full range of bilateral issues, including counterterrorism and economic and regional issues. They underscored that both the United States and Pakistan look forward to deepening these discussions during the upcoming Strategic Dialogue Ministerial.
