New York, NY

Joe DioGuardi, candidate for the U.S. Senate, today released the following statement regarding his acceptance of the Conservative Party nomination:

"I am honored and humbled to receive the Conservative Party nomination at today's convention, and so pleased to earn the support and confidence of such an esteemed group of conservatives and friends.

"I firmly believe our government was designed to be of the people, by the people and for the people. Today's elected officials, however, have opted to control the people, deceive the people and bury the people in apocalyptic levels of debt. With decades of experience as a Certified Public Accountant, I understand the corrosive nature of debt. More importantly, however, I understand that we must get out of debt and have a concrete plan to balance the budget.

"New York faces a critical decision in this election: we can continue down the same path of taxation, overregulation, and excessive spending and borrowing, or we can change direction by electing a U.S. Senator who has the professional skill set and determination to balance the budget.

"Without the united support of the Conservative, Independence, and Republican parties, our vote will be split, and Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand - the incumbent senator who has a proven record of irresponsible spending and flip-flopping on issues important to New York - will be sent back to Capitol Hill. Without unity, the people of New York and America will continue to lose their money and their freedom. Divided, we cannot win."
